KUAN YIN TEMPLE -Ancient Chinese architecture. The Temple of the Goddess of Mercy, the oldest Chinese temple on the Island. Built in 1800 The crafted and stone sculptured dragons are said to be it's guardians. The temple houses an eighteen armed goddess of fertility and abundance. From the outside this Temple appeared small, when inside It was a mass of narrow alleyways leading to many individual praying houses. Spectacular views inside |

SIAMESE BUDDHIST TEMPLE -A very large temple just outside town. Housing the world's third largest, gold-plated reclining Buddha, 33 metres (108 feet) long. Its walls are full of unique carvings and decorations by Thai artists. Behind the statue are urns where the ashes of the devotees are kept, along with gold carvings describing the tales of Buddha. Across the street is an equally interesting Burmese temple. this |

BURMESE TEMPLE- A pair of elephants guard the entrance to this temple. Within the pagoda grounds is a Boddhi tree and a wishing pond. We felt like we had visited several countries in just an afternoon |

KHOO KONGSI TEMPLE- A most picturesque temple in Georgetown. A magnificient building with intricate carving on its walls, spread-eagled roof, massive columns, and a carved ceiling created by master craftmen from China. Kongsi Houses - Meaning 'clan houses'. Many of these temples are located at the back of some very narrow alleys in some of the least expected places .This temple is the most decorated and well worth seeing The interior is richly decorated with carvings, and contains quite a number of fine Chinese works of art |

KEKLOK SI TEMPLE- (Temple of Supreme
Bliss) Pagoda of 10000 Buddhas. Noted to be the most beautiful and largest Buddhist complex in South East Asia. It is dominated by the seven-tiered pagoda, 30m high, a mixture of Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture and craftsmanship. |

SRI MARIAMMAN TEMPLE- The oldest Hindu temple in Georgetown, built in 1883, with fascinating sculptures of gods and goddesses over its main entrance and on its facade. Housed within its ornately decorated interior is the priceless statue of Lord Subramaniam embellished with gold, silver , diamonds and emeralds. |

SNAKE TEMPLE- Probably the only one of its kind in the world. Snakes coiled around objects on the altar are said to be rendered harmless by the smoke of the burning incense in the temple. |
