Kuala Lumpur Airport Transit Hotel To Langkawi Island

Our second visit to this most exciting Country. We had a six hour stop-over at KL Airport en route to Langkawi so we stayed at the KL Airside Transit Hotel with it's comprehensive range of hotel facilities and services.

Langkawi is a true tropical Island Paradise holiday. You will find your haven here.

Flights to Langkawi take approx. 1 hour from Kuala Lumpur. A scenically beautiful island with sandy beaches and dense forests, ideal for a quiet, relaxed holiday in the sun. We enjoyed renting a motorbike to enable us to get the true feel and smell of the outdoors, and a car for a few days to explore further afield. The island is easy to drive around, with many places to visit..

THE LANGKAWI VILLAGE RESORT

langkawi village resort

10 acres of landscaped coconut palms. The beach-front stretches over 400 meters. We took a one bedroom beach-front Bungalow for 3 weeks and got an excellent rate. .Our view of the sea was perfect, even when lying down in bed! A hideaway; peaceful, informal and thoroughly relaxing. The massage hut and Thai massage is well worth several visits! The beach was a 10 second walk away.

We had a friendly neighbour living on our rooftop known as a TOKEE LIZARD and each evening at dusk it would start to make the Uh-Oh sound, usually 3-5 times then a break. Rumour has it that 9 Uh-Oh's meant good luck for the following day. We only got up to 6. However, all our days were lucky!

Hotel facilities: Restaurant, beach bar, Coco Jam fun pub/disco, Beachfront Volley Ball, Tennis, Swimming Pool with Sunken Bar, Massage Hut, and a Souvenir Shop. We spent most of our time exploring by Motorbike for the first 2 weeks followed by a car hire for the following week due to the Monsoon rain. What a wonderful experience.

We were fortunate to have a Reflexology Centre close by and highly recommended. The best I have visited.

YACHTING WITH CAPTAIN HAMISH- THE STARDUST

AIR HANGAT HOT SPRINGShot springs, Malaysia

The spot where the hot water spilled onto the ground turned into a hot spring -- an occurrence that defies geological explanation. 'Air hangat' or hot water is the name given to the area which survived to this day. The hot spring has a reputation of myriad cures. Located on four acres this modern complex includes a 3-tier hot spring fountain, an 18-metre long handcarved riverstone mural depicting the legends, daily demonstrations of local crafts and cultural dances and souvenir shops

PLACES VISITED BY MOTORBIKE

We would recommend 'The Shop' for vehicle rental. Very good rates and excellent service

bike Langkawi

Kuah Langkawi Malaysia

KUAH -Dataran Helang:

Our first visit was to an internet cafe to get an idea of where to visit and found langkawionline where we met Mr. Vinny the webmaster and owner for further detailed information on Langkawi Island .
Eagle Square - Where the symbol of Langkawi rests Langkawi's most prominent landmark. The Eagle stands 52 feet high. A stunning location with lovely views and walks. There's even a giant video screen playing movies all day long.
Night Market Langkawi

Pasar Malam ( Night Market ) -

A place where the locals gather, selling general goods and local Malay foods. The best part of it is the fiesta-like atmosphere and the delicious food, well worth a visit. The night market moves to different locations during the week. Ask the locals where the night market is being held on that day.
black beach

Black Sand Beach -

Pantai Pasir Hitam. Noted for its black sand, although it's not completely black, just blobs of black through the sand caused by a spring that deposits mineral oxides. You can also see craftsman at work creating batik painting and wood carvings . Shopping for batik is perfect here as it's the cheapest on the island!
Anna and the King

Summer Palace Langkawi -

Pantai Kok- Is one of the sets constructed for the movie Anna and The King starring Jodie Foster . The whole building was constructed with 95% wood. 20th Century Fox commissioned the construction of this magnificent and expensive movie set. This site is not well advertised. We were told about it whilst enjoying a fabulous meal at the local British owned Italian Restaurant!

Galeria Perdana -

A collection of the Prime Minister's (Dr. Mahathir Mohammad) gifts and awards received over the years - over 10,000 items. You can see crystal ware and gifts of wood, leather, silver, copper, pewter, ceramics and glass. There are also musical instruments, Islamic arts and crafts and weapons. Part of the display includes several prototype cars and 4-wheel drive vehicles. Photography is not allowed inside the gallery. A very interesting collection well worth a visit. Allow at least 2 hours to look around. The intention is to display and share with the people the various awards, souvenirs and gifts received from World leaders.
Malayian Object d'art

Craft Cultural Complex -

Located on a hillside overlooking the sea, this complex has a wide range of Malaysian handicrafts such as hand drawn batik, embroidery, beads, metalware and silverware, all of high quality and great craftsmanship. You can also see the craftsmen at work outside!

RESTAURANTS - Here's A Few We Visited. So many Excellent Restaurants to choose from!

BARN THAI MANGROVE RESTAURANT

mangrove restaurant

A fabulous restaurant deep within the Mangrove Swamps. Walk some 450 metres along a wooden walkway deep through the Mangrove Swamp before entering the restaurant. Monkeys are everywhere, just try not to look them in the eye or smile! A restaurant to return to for more! The food was excellent.

ASEANIA RESORT ENTERTAINMENTaseania resort hotel

An evening Malay dinner buffet with local Malay show for US$ 5! We enjoyed the show. We were also able to choose our meal from the A la carte menu. An enjoyable evening with an enjoyable show.

TANJUNG RHU RESORT ENTERTAINMENTtanjung rhu hotel

Here we wined, dined and saw a remarkable show of "Sound and Body I & II" . The food was outstanding as was the service. Highly recommended even if for just a look around the attreactive grounds.
