Power,
Passion and Principles
Each one of us is a source of energy at
many levels. Physical, mental and
spiritual energy are all separate and yet integrated.
These energies will
be incoherent, scattered and dis-integrated unless they
are focussed by a
clear sense of common purpose. Do you remember as a child
discovering the
power of the sun, as you focussed it's diffuse energy
through a magnifying
glass, and set fire to the grass? Purpose is like the
magnifying glass that
focuses the energies of your life, which are diffuse
and scattered, until
you find your purpose. Only then do you become powerful.
The purpose of your
physical energy is to provide a harmonious dwelling and
efficient vehicle for you the soul. Keep your body healthy.
The purpose of
your mental energy is to provide an ability to think,
discern, decide and
therefore create your life's journey. Keep your mind
clear and clean. And
the purpose of your spiritual energy (you) is to connect
with others, unite
and co-create with others, and in so doing you, the soul,
comes to know the
unlimited and infinite beauty of yourself and others.
Keep your heart free
and pure.
When the energy of life
flows through and from the soul (your self) in such
a purposeful way, a natural enthusiasm is generated.
This is the true
meaning of passion. This enthusiasm is the positive,
stable and radiant
energy of being that floods into every relationship and
every action. But
only as long as the souls purpose, creativity and actions
are aligned. This
is also the process that generates meaning. Enthusiasm
and meaning are
partners in maintaining a fulfilling and contented life.
Purpose, creativity
and action however, all require the guidance of truth.
Otherwise enthusiasm cannot be sustained and purpose
will be compromised.
From truth comes values, and from values come principles.
The truth 'is
that which never changes'. One truth that never changes
is that ALL human
beings are 'loving by nature'. The values that emerge
from this truth are
acceptance and respect for each other. And the principles
that will guide
our actions, within all our relationships, will then
include an
unconditional and unwavering respect and acceptance of
the other, even when
mistakes are made.
And so power, passion
(enthusiasm) and principles are inextricably woven
together into the tapestry that is your life. In any
moments of discomfort
or unease look within and you will notice an absence
of one of these
strands. It could be you have momentarily lost sight
of your sense of
purpose, or you have allowed a destructive mental tendency
to overpower your
creativity and thereby sabotage your passion, or you
are simply ignoring
your own conscience, which is always the receptacle of
truth.
Question: What is your
purpose in life?
Reflection: Why do you
think so many people are unaware of their purpose or
have no clear sense of purpose for their life?
Action: Research and
list the ten most important universal truths (that
which never changes) which maintain harmony in human
relationships (not
expressed as instructions!)
